Good morning, Knights. Next week, we’ll all enter a new era of sorts with the start of a new calendar year.

Over the weekend, the UCF volleyball program got a bit of a jump on starting a new era.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 House Defended. Unlike McCallister, it was a team effort to defend the home court for the Knights on Saturday.

Keyshawn Hall led four Knights in double-figures as UCF rolled past in-state rival Jacksonville 86-66 to remain unbeaten at home through non-conference play for the first time since 2011-12.

Hall scored 21 points with three rebounds and three assists, while Jordan Ivy-Curry finished with 19 points and three steals. Darius Johnson (12 pts, six rebounds) and Moustapha Tham (10 pts, five boards) were the other two Knights in double-figures.

🔼 Welcome Home. Another new face is returning to the Bounce House next fall. 

On Sunday, UCF head coach Scott Frost announced the addition and return of Mike Dawson to the Knights staff. Dawson will lead the defensive run game and work with the edge players.

Dawson was a member of Frost’s staff during his stint with the program during UCF’s 2017 National Championship run.

In Saturday’s win over Jacksonville, the Knights shot 58.7-percent from the field in the offensive outburst.

🚀 ONE BIG THING

A New Era. The gridiron isn’t the only place a new era is starting for UCF next fall.

On Saturday, the Knights officially welcomed Matt Botsford to Orlando as he will be taking over the reins of the UCF volleyball program.

Botsford spent the past 11 seasons at Florida Gulf Coast where he led the Eagles to four consecutive Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, including four consecutive, and five NCAA tournament appearances. He also guided the Eagles to their first NCAA First Round win (in its first appearance) in 2018.
