Space U Brew 2/10: Softball's Winning Start to the Season

The softball team picked up many wins at the Black and Gold Classic.

Good morning, Knights. Freshmen are taking the lead and spring sports are starting strong in this Monday edition of the Brew!

🔼 First Showdown. The softball team played its first games of the season at the Black and Gold Classic. The Knights beat NC State 3-1, Illinois 2-1, James Madison 3-2 and Illinois 4-0. Kaitlyn Felton only allowed one hit in her three innings of work against NC State. Lena Elkins led the team to beat Illinois the first time as she danced out of danger, stranding 10 runners on base. Izzy Mertes and Samantha Rey each had two hits against JMU.

🔼 Dominating Distance. The track & field team competed at the Celebration Pointe Classic and excelled in the distance events. Four Knights had personal records and finished in the top 10 in the mile. Raquel Edwards secured her first collegiate win in the 600m.

🔼 Undefeated. The women’s tennis team beat South Florida 4-0 for its fifth win of the season. The Knights won three singles matches and two doubles matches.

🔼 Comeback Win. The men’s tennis team had a huge comeback win against Florida Atlantic. The Knights won 4-3, with one doubles win and three singles wins.
