Good morning, Knights. UCF football edge rusher Malachi Lawrence has become the fifth first-round pick in program history, as he was selected 23rd overall in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. The pick makes him the highest drafted Knight on the defensive side of the ball.

📈 STOCK UP 

🔼 Round 1. The women’s golf team is in second place at the Big 12 Championship after one round of play. UCF has a team score of 287 (-1). Molly Smith leads the Knights with a score of 71 (-1). She is tied for fourth place individually. Three Knights are tied for ninth place, each with a score even to par.

🔼 Conference Honors. The women’s tennis team had three athletes named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team. Jantje Tilbuerger and Marina Gatell earned their spot as the Court One All-Tournament Team. They went a perfect 2-0 in doubles play last weekend. Olivia Bergler earned the Court Two Singles All-Tournament Team honor.

🔼 Big Weekend. The #17 softball team has a big ranked series starting tonight! The Knights travel to #5 Florida at 6pm ET tonight and welcome them at home tomorrow at 6pm ET. 🔼 Cooper Bassett joined the UCF coaching staff as Tight Ends Coach in January 2026 ahead of the 2026 season. Bassett is a versatile coach with plenty of experience on both sides of the ball. A senior captain at Oklahoma State in his playing days, the Tuttle, Okla. native played tight end and defensive line for the Cowboys from 2009-12. With 13 years of coaching experience, Bassett has been part of two divisional championship teams and has coached in four bowl games.

New Knight! The women’s basketball team welcomes Nyla McFadden to its 2026-27 roster. McFadden is a transfer from Penn State. She plays as a guard and a forward. Last season, she averaged 4.5 points per game across 28 games, adding in an impressive 2.9 rebounds and 1 assist per game on a 47.4 percent clip from the field.
